(Dec 2020) NPNL is awarded $780,000 Alliance Grant, in collaboration with ZEN Graphene Solution, to research the synthesis of graphene nanomaterials and the development of their multifunctional polymer nanocomposites.

UBC Okanagan engineering researcher Mohammad Arjmand holds a polymer-based brake pad that could revolutionize braking systems in cars and trains.

(Mar 2019): NPNL offered PhD admission to Ms. Vaishnavi Suresh Kumar.

(Mar 2019): NPNL is awarded $8,310 through the Work Study Program at UBC to hire an undergraduate student for Fall and Winter 2019. The project will be on the “Green Synthesis of Graphene Oxide and Reduced Graphene Oxide”.

(Feb 2019): Our paper entitled “Effect of WO3 Loading on Structural, Electrical and Dielectric Properties of CaCu3Ti4O12 Ceramic Composites” is accepted in Journal Materials Science: Materials in Electronics.

(Feb 2019): Dr. Arjmand acted as a judge in 5th Annual Engineering Graduate Symposium – AEGS 2019, held at UBC Okanagan Campus on Feb 9th, 2019.

(Jan 2019): Our paper entitled “Structural characterization of CVD custom-synthesized carbon nanotube/polymer nanocomposites in large amplitude oscillatory shear (LAOS) mode: Effect of dispersion characteristics in confined geometries” is accepted in Macromolecules.

(Jan 2019): NPNL in collaboration with Dr. Zarifi received $90,000 from Mitacs and FortisBC to develop thermal models towards reliability assessment in energy delivery network at FortisBC. Dr. Ebrahimnia will undertake this project as PDF.

(Jan 2019): Dr. Arjmand, in collaboration with Dr. Ameli, is guest editing a special issue in the Journal of Polymers (IF: 2.93). (Nov 2018): NPNL (PI) in collaboration with Dr. Abbas Milani (Co-PI) was awarded $5,500 by NRC-IRAP for a capstone design project entitled “Design of Clipless Pedal for Chromag“.

NPNL co-supervises a PhD student (Mr. Mohammadreza Farrokhnia – supervised by Dr. Amo Abedini) from the University of Tehran, Iran to develop nanomaterials and polymer nanocomposites biomarkers toward early diagnosis of diabetes (Nov 2018).
